Sometimes the best moments at Blue Haven aren’t planned at all.
One day, in a moment of pure “we’ll deal with that later” energy, we left a ladder sitting beneath the deck.
Harmless enough… or so we thought. Before long, we noticed something taking shape on top of it—a carefully constructed little nest. At that point, there was only one option: step back and let nature do its thing.
And so began one of the sweetest little chapters we’ve had here at Blue Haven.
From Twigs to Treasures
What started as a few scattered pieces of grass and twigs quickly became a perfectly formed nest. There’s something kind of amazing about watching that transformation—how instinctively and intentionally it all comes together.
Then one day… the real surprise.
Three of the most beautiful, delicate blue eggs appeared, tucked safely inside.
We officially entered what can only be described as “hatch watch.”
The Best Seat in the House

Because the ladder sat directly beneath the deck, we had a quiet little viewing window above—able to peek down through the slats without disturbing a thing. It felt like being let in on a secret.
We waited.
And listened.
Until one day, the silence broke into the tiniest chorus of chirps.
Hungry Little Mouths
When those eggs finally hatched, we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the babies—tiny, wobbly, and very hungry. Open beaks reaching skyward, waiting for their next meal.
I didn’t dare get too close, so I held my phone up above my head blindly and hoped for the best… and somehow managed to capture the moment.
Meanwhile, momma robin was a constant presence—coming and going, tirelessly caring for her little ones.

Growing Up, Blue Haven Style
Before we knew it, those fragile hatchlings started looking more like real birds—feathers filling in, movements growing stronger, curiosity taking over.
And then, just like that… they were gone from the nest.
Not long after, we spotted one of the fledglings nearby in the grass—resting, observing, getting ready for its next big step.

A Gentle Reminder
This little experience felt like such a gift.
A reminder to slow down.
To notice what’s happening right in front of us.
And maybe… to leave the ladder out once in a while.
We’re wishing these little robins the very best as they go off to live their lives—hopefully with a soft spot for Blue Haven.
