Hello, I’m Kat!
Welcome to The Blue Haven Journal. Here you’ll find a little window into life at my home, which we affectionately call Blue Haven — a name inspired by the peaceful, nature-filled rhythms of our days and the quiet sanctuary we’ve created here.
I love tending the garden, filling the feeders for the backyard birds, and finding simple ways to make our home feel warm and welcoming. Whether I’m working on a DIY project, rearranging a cozy corner of the house, or spending time outside listening to the sounds of nature, I find joy in the quiet rhythms of everyday life.
My dog Rocky is usually close by — ready for a walk or keeping watch over the backyard wildlife.
The Blue Haven Journal grew out of a desire to share the small things that bring happiness to ordinary days — cozy home projects, time spent in the garden, backyard birds and wildlife, seasonal rhythms, and the simple rituals that make a house feel like a home.
I’ve also begun a journey into wildlife rehabilitation, which has opened my eyes even more to the fascinating animals that share our neighborhoods and backyards. From curious squirrels to bright red cardinals, the natural world just outside our doors has so many stories to tell.
If you love peaceful homes, time spent in nature, and the simple pleasures of everyday living, I hope Blue Haven feels like a welcoming place to visit.
Rocky and I are always happy to have company here.
And introducing the rest of the Blue Haven crew — Gus, our Maine Coon, and Sophie, our Ragdoll mix feline queen. (You might even spot my husband Dave from time to time here at Blue Haven.)
